North Carolina Woman Charged with Vehicular Homicide in Kingsport Crash
A North Carolina woman is facing multiple charges, including vehicular homicide and DUI after a crash in Kingsport killed a man. The crash happened in the early morning hours of Thursday at the intersection of East Center Street and East Sevier Avenue. According to investigators Stephanie Houle was driving a stolen 1996 Ford Ranger pickup truck from Mars Hill, NC and was traveling west on East Center Street. She ran a red light and struck a 2002 Hyundai Accent. The driver 44-year-old Gregory Sturgill was killed in the crash. Houle of Alexander, NC crawled out of the wreckage and ran to a nearby residence. The resident called police who responded to the scene and had to use a Taser to get her into to custody. During the struggle she assaulted one of the officers. She was taken to jail where she performed poorly on field sobriety tests.
