Southwest Virginia Doctor Charged With Numerous Counts Of Drug Trafficking…Fraud Charges

A Southwest Virginia doctor is now facing 25 federal drug trafficking and healthcare fraud charges following an indictment out of Abingdon. 61 year old psychiatrist, Dr. Alfredo Cervantes of Lebanon, Virginia is charged with 23 counts of distributing a controlled drug and one count each of health care and wire fraud charges…Cervantes, is also accused of causing health care providers to pay for unnecessary psychotherapy treatments and prescription drugs.
