Southwest Virginia Man Dies After Officer Involved Shooting
The Virginia State Police have identified the suspect shot by officers in Big Stone Gap. Nathan Curtis Castle, 34, was reportedly involved in a domestic dispute earlier in the day. A neighbor called police and asked them to check on Castle’s wife. A deputy spotted Castle driving erratically on Old Route 610. He refused to stop, sparking a chase. As Castle entered the SB entrance to Route 23, he stopped his pickup truck and got out with a shotgun. That’s when a Wise County Deputy pulled and fired his duty weapon, striking and killing Castle. His body has been transported to Roanoke for an autopsy at the State Medical Examiner’s Office.
