19-year-old Man Arrested After School Threat

Kingsport Police are deploying extra patrols at Dobyns-Bennett High School after a threat to “Shoot Up” a class was received via message. Police arrested Mark Steven Puckett, 19, after they were alerted to the alarming message. Puckett is a 2017 graduate of DB. Investigators say Puckett has shown a disturbing trend in behavior of late, calling himself a monster, expressing a desire to kill his parents, and stab his sister to “watch her suffer.” Puckett is charged with felony false reporting and harassment. Puckett has been booked into the Kingsport City Jail where he is being held without bond. He is set to undergo a psychological evaluation before and type of release will be considered.
