Second Body Found In Watauga River…In Less Than A Month

Another body has been pulled from the Watauga River in Carter County…the second body found in less than a month. Carter County officials say a man’s body was found by fishermen near Sycamore Shoals Drive just after one pm Sunday. An autopsy is being performed to determine the identity of the man. Less than a month ago, authorities also discovered the body of 30 year old Jacob W. Hampton of Elizabethton in the Watauga River. Hampton was reported missing by family members, who said he had not been seen in over a month. Police are still seeking information in that case.
