Hawkins County Rock Slide Closes Route 70…Again

Large rocks falling on state route 70 in Hawkins County has forced TDOT officials to move up the closure of the highway. Transportation officials closed the road Monday night instead of the April 23 planned date. Large rocks have fallen on the hillside and the road must be closed to allow the cleanup process to get underway. Highway 70 North in Eidson will be closed between state route 94 and Clinch Valley Road for the next three weeks. A rock slide forced the closure of the same stretch of roadway last May.
