Former Rogersville Water Department Superintendent in Hot Water
A former water department superintendent in Rogersville’s may soon find himself in VERY hot water. State Auditors say Shawn Hatchett, stole thousands of dollars from his employer. Hatchett is indicted on multiple charges of theft. Hatchett’s scheme allegedly involved him stealing deposits that were supposed to be delivered to a bank. In total, investigators say he stole $69,444 from 16 different intended deposits. Hatchet also frauded the company out of thousands of hours of compensatory time, even though city polices made him ineligible. A Hawkins County grandy jury indicted him on theft of property over $250,000, one count of theft over $60,000, and one count of official misconduct. The Tennesee Comptroller’s office worked with the Tennessee Bureaua of Investigation and the Rogersvillle Police Department on the case.
