Carter County Residents Complain Of Sinking Ground On Residential Property

Several Carter County residents are claiming the ground on their property is opening up again…the land in question is the same area of a sinkhole discovered in 2013. Neighbors in Town View Estates say the ground is weakening and they’re now having trouble with doors not closing and cracks in their homes. Carter County EMA Director Gary Smith is reaching out to the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation to discuss the latest sinking of the land and to determine what, if anything can be done to remedy the situation.
