Northeast State Receives Federal Grant

A $729,000 federal grant awarded to Northeast State Community College will provide assistance to some students with preschool childcare expenses.

The program is anticipated to begin January 2019. The four year grant allows a partnership between the school and local day care providers.

The selection process is not entirely clear at this time but what is clear is that childcare in general is important to parents and perhaps more so to those seeking to further their education.

A study shows that women are more likely to balance college and parenthood. It shows they make up about 71 percent of all student parents.
