Former Sullivan Central Teacher/Coach Hit by Car While Riding Bike

A report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol said a former teacher and girls basketball coach at Sullivan Central High School was hit by a truck while riding his bike.

62-year-old Gary Surcey was traveling on his bike on Highway 93 Sunday morning when a Toyota Tundra made contact with him from behind. Surcey was thrown from his bike and rolled down an embankment.

The man was taken to Holston Valley Medical Center and his condition is yet to be determined. The driver of the truck has not been charged.
