Woman Fatally Injured In Abingdon Car-Train Accident

An accident that occurred on Saturday in Abingdon involving a train hitting a car has resulted in a fatality.

76-year-old Ruth Ellen Horne was transported to Bristol Regional Medical Center after a train collided with her vehicle. Authorities reported that she had drove around the crossing arms, leading the vehicle directly in the path of the train.

Horne succumbed to her injuries as a result, and passed away Saturday.
