Hawkins Officials Reporting Good Paying Jobs There, But Hard To Keep Filled

Officials with the Hawkins County Industrial Development Board say jobs are available in Hawkins County, but industry represenatives at the Phipps Bend Industrial Park are reporting they are having a hard time keeping employees on the job. According to IDB Chairman Larry Elkins, local companies are having difficulty getting people to commit to work everyday. Elkins says the jobs are good paying jobs, but company officials say they are still having trouble keeping workers employed even with 15 dollar a hour jobs. To help with the problem, IDB Coordinator, Rebecca Baker says efforts are underway to organize a job fair, not only for Phipps Bend industries but for all of Hawkins County.
