Carter County Commissioners Uphold Mayor’s Veto

Carter County County Mayor Leon Humphrey’s veto to not raise property taxes has been upheld by the county commission. After several meetings of lengthy discussion, Monday Night, county commissioners decided to keep the tax rate at two dollars and forty seven cents per one hundred dollars of assessed value. Earlier, Commissioners had proposed to raise taxes by eleven cents. The measure now goes back to a budget committee hearing schedule for this coming Monday.
