No Tax Increase For Carter County Residents

It appears, after initially proposing an eleven cent property tax increase for Carter County residents, Commissioners are now poised to pass next years budget without any increase at all. The Carter County Budget Committee agreed with Mayor Leon Humphreys recent veto of the proposed tax increase and decided not to increase taxes. The money to balance the budget is expected to be taken from the county’s debt service. County Commissioners will vote on the spending document on August 27.
