Multi Million Dollar Grant To Assist IDA With Reclaiming Abandoned Mine Sites

More than three million dollars in grant money will help assist the Norton, Virginia Industrial Development Authority reclaim a former mine site for economic development purposes. Three and a half million dollars will be used to turn 200 acres of a former mine into usable land for possible future economic development opportunities. The grant money is part of a program to help identify abandoned mine sites that could be redeveloped.
