Lee County Gets School Resource Officer, But Will Continue Appeal To Arm Teachers
Lee County, Virginia Public Schools will now be able to hire a school resource officer thanks to the assistance of a state grant. But it won’t keep the school system from pursuing its efforts to become the first school district in the Commonwealth to arms its teachers due to a lack of school resource officers. The school system says it will continue with its appeal of a recent decision by the Criminal Justice Services Board to reject the district’s request to arm classroom instructors. The Commonwealth’s Attorney has already deemed the plan as unlawful, but Lee County school officials say they are following the law with their request.
