One Year Anniversary Of Eastman Explosion In Kingsport
t was one year ago today, that Kingsport’s Eastman Chemical Company and its surrounding campus were rocked by a chemical explosion. According to an investigative report by the Department of Environment and Conservation, the blast released a small amount of extremely hazardous gases, including hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide. The report goes on to say Eastman was not a fault and the explosion was probably caused by a blocked, thirty year old valve that malfunctioned.
