Public Hearing Held on Proposed Interstate 81 Improvements
Details on a State transportation plan to improve Interstate 81 were recently discussed at a public hearing in Abingdon. Paying for two billion dollars in improvements could include charging tolls for passengers cars, and commercial trucks, sales and fuel tax increases or some combination of those. The draft plan proposes funding 72 previously identified safety and congestion improvements along the 325 mile route between Bristol and Winchester Virginia.
