Ballad Health Studying Consolidation Of Trauma One Care Centers

There are six level one trauma centers across the state of Tennessee and two of them are here in the Tri-Cities, but that may all change with the recent Ballad Health merger between Mountain States Health and Wellmont Health Systems. Kingsport’s Holston Valley Medical Center and Johnson City Medical Center each have a level one trauma center. Now Ballad health is going through a process to determine whether and how to consolidate trauma services in the Tri-Cities. A third party consultant is studying such a proposal. And a local advisory count met Thursday night to discuss the issue. The Ballad Board of Directors will also be meeting in the near future and the topic is on their agenda.
