Carter County Commission Approves Funds For Emergency Management Agency Upgrades
Carter County Commissioners have approved a proposal to provide more than 500 thousand dollars in upgrades to the county’s emergency management agency, but not all commissioners are on board, saying the cost of the project could be done for much less. A state grant will cover 60 percent of the project, if the county comes through with the remaining 192 thousand dollars, which would come from an unassigned fund balance. Commissioners in favor of the plan say the cost is worth it to get the grant and will benefit the county for years to come.
