Southwest Virginia Lawmakers To Intdoduce Bill On Casino And Resort In Bristol
Two southwest Virginia lawmakers will file a bill in the upcoming legislative session that could change state law and allow Bristol voters to decide if they want a resort and casino in the twin city. Delegate Israel O’Quinn and Senator Bill Carrico outlined the process for introducing the legislation at a news conference and say if the bill is approved in the House and Senate, it could be enacted as soon as July 1, of 2019. But the two men also say the bill must include a public hearing that would ultimately give citizens of Bristol, Virginia the final say so on the proposed casino that would be located at the old Bristol Mall.
