Two Southwest Virginia Prison Officers Attacked With Homemade Weapon

Two corrections officers at a southwest Virginia prison have been attacked and wounded by a prison inmate. The Dept of Corrections says around six thirty Sunday morning, an inmate attacked the two officers with a handmade weapon.One of the officers received stab wounds to his upper body while the other officer sustained a broken knee. Both officers were taken to a local hospital and are expected to be released Monday. The 31 year old inmate who attacked the officers is serving a 65 year prison sentence for five counts of robbery and seven counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony
