32 Million Dollar Road Improvement Project Could Begin Next Year In Hawkins County
A 32 point four million dollar road improvement project in Hawkins County could begin next year, if funding is available. The Tennessee Dept of Transportation has released plans on the Route 66 super two lane upgrade that will straighten the winding and narrow roadway. Land purchasing for the project could get underway soon, with actual construction on the project to be completed in about five years. The project has already received approval and is part of the state’s Improve Act. The Route 66 upgrade has been in the works for nearly 20 years
