Homeless Day Center Being Proposed In Twin Cities
It’s been estimated there are just over one hundred homeless people living in Bristol and now officials with both Bristol, Tennessee and Virginia are proposing to work together to reduce the number of homeless individuals in the Twin Cities. A move is underway to establish a Day Center in the area specifically for the homeless. The center would provide intensive case management services, health care and mental health services. In addition, the center would have space for showers, laundry, and transportation to job interviews, work or court. Represenatives from Bristol Day Center Working Group says the program would also help clean up downtown and increase potential business ventures. Public meetings on the topic will be held in January and February.
