Fire At Buchanan County’s Hurley Elementary Forces Student Evacuation

Students from a Buchanan County school had to be evacuated Thursday after fire broke out near the gym and locker room areas of the school. Students from Hurley Elementary were caught off guard after flames were seen coming from a clothes dryer near the boys locker room and gym. A Buchanan County Deputy was able to extinguish the flames, but not before students were evacuated to a nearby high school. The fire activated the school’s sprinkler system causing water damage in the gym and locker room areas. No injuries were reported
