UPDATE: Explosion Heard at Holston Ammunition Plant; Plant Says It’s Part of Controlled Burn
An explosion has been reported at the Holston Army Ammunition Plant in Kingsport after a fire broke out at a building Thursday morning.
According to the Plant however, the secondary explosion was part of a controlled burn to the building that caught fire.
Officials say there is no danger to the community and no additional injuries have been reported.
A fire broke out on the property around 8 A.M Thursday morning that sent one worker to the ER for observation.

A Thursday morning fire at Holston Army Ammunition Plant has sent a worker to the hospital.
According to a news release from Director of Public and Congressional Affairs Joint Munitions Command Justine Barati, an alarm sounded at 8 A.M near the plant that indicated a fire. Onsite safety, health, and environment teams immediately responded and secured the building.
No workers were inside the building at the time, but one worker in proximity to the smoking building was transported to the ER for observation.
The incident is under control and there is no danger of the fire spreading off the property according to the news release.
