Kingsport’s Holston Army Ammunition Plant Slowly Getting Back To Normal After Fire And Explosion

Kingsport’s Holston Army Ammunition plant is slowly getting back to normal after a fire caused a huge explosion at the plant on Thursday morning. The fire broke out early Thursday at the six thousand acre munitions plant. The company says the blaze occurred in a building that housed explosives and a decision was made to allow the building to burn to the ground as oppossed to fighting the fire with the company’s own fire units. An employee who was close to the fire was taken to a local hospital for observation and no employees were inside the building that caught fire. The munitions producer is in the process of undertaking a 450 million dollar modernization project at the site.
