Latest Figures Show Suicide Deaths Increase in TN from 2016 to 2017
A new study reports suicide, especially among youth is on the rise in Tennessee.
According to the Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network, the latest figures measured in 2017 show an increase of almost 25 percent in suicide deaths among children ages 10-17.
In addition, the Tennessee Department of Health’s Office of Health Statistics found suicide rates have increased from 2016 to 2017.
In Northeast Tennessee among the eight surrounding counties, 95 suicides were reported, with Sullivan County ranking first in suicide deaths with 29.
