VSP Investigating Fatal Incident in Dickenson County, VA
Virginia State Police are investigating a single-vehicle fatal incident that occurred over the weekend in Dickenson County.
A report from the Virginia State Police says Homer Deel, 82, of Bee, Virginia was behind the wheel of a 2006 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck traveling westbound on Route 80 when he hydroplaned on the wet road and lost control of the vehicle. The truck ran off the road, hit a tree, and flipped over an embankment, landing upside in a river with the man trapped inside.
Police say Deel was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene. The crash is still under investigation.
