Abingdon Woman Assaults Police Officer

A woman in Abingdon, who roughed up a law enforcement officer while attempting to escape is now charged with attempted capital murder of a police officer. 26 year old Amanda Repass was remanded to jail due to a prior charge. Authorities were placing Repass in handcuffs, when she tried to slip out and escape. Repass also tried to flee and as police were placing her in custody she reportedly punched the officer in the head and attempted to gain control of his service weapon. Repass is being held in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail.
