Carter County Schools Looking For Ways To Trim Huge Budget Deficit
Since 1998, Carter County Schools have seen more than 13 hundred students transfer from the county school system. And with state funding tied to school attendance, Carter County is now left with a nearly one point three million dollar budget deficit. Thursday night, school board members voted to trim that down to 295 thousand dollars. And the school board isnt finished. Now they are looking at possible cuts to assistant principals, teachers and a capitol improvement program. A school consolidation plan has not been ruled out as another possible way to balance the school systems budget.
