Jonesborough Man Accused of Breaking-In, Vandalizing Limestone Church
A Jonesborough man is facing felony charges for allegedly breaking in and vandalizing a church in Limestone.
The Washington County Tennessee Sheriff’s Office reports the Limestone Freewill Baptist Church was burglarized early Monday morning. In addition to the break-in, a large amount of damage was observed inside the building that included wires ripped from the wall, heat pump units tipped over, and a bible’s pages ripped apart. Surveillance footage identified a suspect, Jeffery Wade Greene, 37, who also left his ID and wallet at the scene. Greene faces charges of vandalism over $10,000, burglary, theft under $1,000, and one count of civil rights intimidation.
He also faces an additional charge of auto burglary from a separate arrest. Police also recovered a stolen laptop from the church that was in Greene’s possession. Greene is held on a $21,000 bond in the Washington County Detention Center, awaiting a sessions court appearance Tuesday.
