Information Technology Apprenticeship Program Established In Southwest Virginia

A bill sponsored by two southwest Virginia lawmakers has been signed by the Governor that will for the first time establish an information technology apprenticeship program in southwest Virginia. The Rural Information Technology Apprenticeship Program will place IT workers in an 18 month long apprenticeship with small, rural technology businesses. The apprentices will be paired with mentors and will receive on the job training. Once the program has been successfully completed the apprentice is automatically hired by the company.
