Phase One of State Road 126 Improvement Project Set To Begin
A long awaited, much needed, 90 million dollar road improvement project is about to begin its first phase of work. A meeting to discuss right of way acquisitions of sections of a four mile, five segment stretch of roadway running between State Route 126 from East Center Street to just east of Cooks Valley Road headed toward Blountville. The project will widen and improve 126 and will include bike lanes and sidewalks. The project will involve 269 parcels of property and require relocation of approximately 100 households and businesses. A right of way acquisition meeting will be held in June.
