Two ETSU Students Dead After ATV Crash
East Tennessee State University has confirmed that two ATV riders killed Sunday in the Windrock Park area of Stoney Fork were students at the university.
19-year-old Dillon Atkins and 19-year-old Jonathan Laws were dean’s list students who just finished their freshman year.
Three riders were killed in total and one injured after their side by side ATV fell more than 100 feet into thick brush. Dillon Atkins’ father Ronnie was the third victim.
Rescuers had to cut through thick brush to reach the crash site but it was little to late for those who lost their lives.
Windrock Park consists of 73,000 acres and says it is the largest privately owned riding area in the United States.
