VDOT Expanding Safety Services Patrol Program Along Interstate 81
The Virginia Department of Transportation is expanding its coverage of the Safety Service Patrols along Intestate 81.
The enhanced coverage, which began Monday, plans to improve patrol and response time along the heavily trafficked road. This new expansion of safety patrol services is part of the 2018 Interstate 81 Corridor Improvement Plan helped funded by the Virginia General Assembly. The Safety Service Patrols program helps assists on incident management and emergency response. VDOT also says they have hired 12 additional Safety Service Patrol drivers.
