Report: Fatalities on Virginia roads during July 4th holiday increase from 2018
The number of people who died in auto crashes on Virginia highways during the July 4th holiday period unfortunately increased from last year. Preliminary statistics released by the State Police show seven people were killed in six wrecks compared with three in 2018. Troopers also arrested 79 drivers for DUI and cited more than 5,000 motorists for speeding, according to the report.
