Safety concerns force City of Bristol to close select bleachers at Bryce Cox Field for Pirates games
“I think that going forward it’s only going to get worse as the facility gets older and older.”
Bristol Pirates general manager Mahlon Luttrell talking about the status of Bryce Cox Field which had concrete bleachers near home plate and down the first base line closed off indefinitely on Tuesday for safety concerns by the City of Bristol. It’s the second time this season seats for Pirates fans have been roped off. Luttrell says if Bristol does not invest in repairs to the 50-year-old ballpark, the Jolly Roger could chart another course.
“I would like to see the city of Bristol keep professional baseball by all means but we cannot continue to operate with issues like this,” he said.
