Law Enforcement in Southwest Virginia Participating in New Virginia DMV Campaign on Buckling Up
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is launching a new campaign to shed light on the importance of using a seatbelt.
A news release from the department says the Commonwealth’s unbuckled fatality rate sits at 52%, or around 300 deaths in 2018 and they are hoping the new Local Heroes Seatbelt Awareness Initiative will educate individuals to be more willing to buckle up.
Locally, law enforcement from Wise County, Norton, Lee County, and Buchanan County, among other Southwest departments have been featured in videos urging people to buckle up when driving.
