Sullivan Commissioners Approve Next Years Budget…With Two Cent Property Tax Increase
If at first you don’t succeed, then try, try, again. And that’s exactly what Sullivan County Commissioners did Wednesday night by passing next years budget, but did so with a two cent property tax increase. The tax rate increases to 2 dollars and 57 cents per one hundred dollars of accessed property. Commissioners had already approved a two percent raise for county employees, ten new employees at the Sheriff’s Office and additional school resource officers before Wednesday night’s action to raise taxes. The money generated from the jump in the tax rate will more than likely go to the general fund.
