Forest lands in Wise, Dickenson counties now part of Nature Conservancy’s Cumberland project

A collection of forest land properties in Southwest Virginia have been purchased by The Nature Conservancy. The move now gives the organization over a quarter-million acres as part of their Cumberland Forest Project. The group said in a report that the new property is located in Wise and Dickenson counties. It contains more than 500 miles of streams that feed into the Clinch River—home to some of the most biodiverse land in the US.
