Federal dollars from the Environmental Protection Agency have been earmarked for projects in Southwest Virginia. The LENOWISCO Planning District has received $600,000 to redevelop former industrial and commercial properties for future use. Those areas include the Kent Junction Gob Pile and the former Clintwood High School location in Dickenson County. A former railroad corridor along the Powell River Trail is also being repaired, according to the EPA report.
