UPDATE: Owner of slaughterhouse that was site of ICE raid sentenced to 18 months
An East Tennessee slaughterhouse owner who paid illegal immigrant workers under the table to avoid millions in taxes received an 18-month prison sentence in US District Court in Greeneville on Wednesday.
James Brantley of Bean Station will serve time for tax evasion, wire fraud and employing unauthorized immigrants. Brantley’s business was the site of one of the largest workplace raids in Tennessee history when more than 90 people from Mexico and Guatemala were taken into custody last April.
