Man Arrested in February 2018 Stabbing Incident in Big Stone Gap Set for Trial

A Wise County man accused of stabbing his girlfriend while their kids were inside an apartment is scheduled to go on trial later this month.

Conan Janus Blankenship is facing numerous charges including attempted first-degree murder, stemming from an incident last February. Court documents say Blankenship’s girlfriend told authorities while she was asleep, the man beat her then stabbed her, before she managed to escape the apartment with her children. Blankenship was arrested a short time later near the apartment complex where the incident occurred.

Trial is scheduled to begin September 18th.
