“Traveling Bandit” Receives 15 Years in Prison

Jason Lee Robinson, a Kentucky man accused of robbing a number of banks across the United States, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

A judge in Florida sentenced Robinson Wednesday in federal court. The man had pled guilty to bank robbery, but rather than being tried in seven different jurisdictions, the Southern District of Florida was able to prosecute all seven cases. After being released from federal prison for a prior bank robbery conviction, Robinson started his robbery spree on December 28th, 2018, robbing a bank in Aventura, Florida. Robinson robbed six other banks over the next few weeks, which included a robbery in Asheville, North Carolina on January 2nd, and a robbery at a Mountain Commerce Bank in Johnson City on January 4th. The other four banks were locations in Tennessee, Alabama, Illinois, and Utah. During the seven robberies, Robinson stole over $24,000.

The FBI apprehended the man on January 24th in Fruita, Colorado.
