Johnson City Man Identified As Victim In Officer Involved Shooting

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has identified Monday morning’s officer involved shooting victim as 34 year old Jeffrey Michael Gibble of Johnson City. Gibble was stopped by an Elizabethton Police officer around two oclock Monday Morning because of suspicious activities. Police ordered Gibble to identify himself, but instead fled on foot. Another police officer joined in the chase and that’s when Gibble pulled a gun and fired on the officers, before both officers returned fire, striking Gibble., he was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. The case remains under investigation and the two Elizabethton Police officers have been placed on administrative leave according to department policy. The case remains under investigation by the TBI.
