In the mail: Tax relief refunds sent out in Virginia
If you filed taxes in Virginia, you could receive a refund in the mail in the coming weeks.
The Department of Treasury started mailing out refunds last week and will continue through Oct. 15. Lawmakers approved the bonus after a change in federal tax law resulted in a windfall in state taxes. Individual filers will get up to $110 while those who filed jointly will receive up to $220.
Those refunds will be withheld if the taxpayers has outstanding balances with local governments, courts, state agencies or the IRS. Residents can check for eligibility by clicking here.
