Northeast TN/Southwest VA Seeing Increasingly Worse Drought Conditions

Drought conditions continue to worsen in the region with little rain scheduled in the forecast for the next seven days.

A latest look at drought monitors in Tennessee shows 98% of the state is suffering from dry or worse conditions, including several counties in Northeast Tennessee starting to lean into moderate drought status. 95% of the state of Virginia is dealing with dry or worse conditions, with most southwest Virginia counties currently under burn bans due to abnormally dry or moderate drought status.
