Lee Prison Employee Physically Assaulted

An inmate has physically assaulted a staff member with the United States Penitentary in Lee County, Virginia. The prison employee was injured after being attacked around one fifteen Tuesday afternoon. The inmates were secured in their housing unites and the prison was placed on a limited operational status until further notice. The United States Prison System at Lee County is a high security facility with more than 14 hundred inmates. The staff member was take to a local hospital for treatment of injuries and no other staff or inmates were injured during the incident.
