The Tennessee Department of Transportation has released updates on repairs to State Route 66 and 70 in Hawkins County.
According to Mark Nagi, Spokesperson for TDOT, rrogress to repairs on both roadways are closing in on finishing up. The latest information to repairs on State Route 66 says crews are removing potential pyritic material discovered at the site in September, and is anticipated to finish up around December 23rd. As for State Route 70, delays due to safety concerns and stability issues have pushed back the initial reopening of the road to December 12th. Additional landslides around the site will only allow one lane to be open until all repairs are complete.
The roadways closed back in February due to heavy rains that caused massive landslides.
